We are all aware or should be aware of the need to extend the theory pass certificates. There is a current petition which has over 55,000 signatures but last week the DVSA replied to the petition basic saying, no. Theory test certs will not be extended.
Last week I uploaded a video asking learner drivers not to give up hope. I said that there is only one way to get an extension and it is to write to your local MP. AS a result, I am really pleased to say that many of you sent emails to our MP.
Petitions are normally debated in Parliament if they get over 100,000 signatures. However, as many of you sent emails to your MP, and as a result, the MP has been calling for a debate.
According to the Houses of Parliament: MPs will debate the extension of driving theory test certificates during the covid-19 outbreak on Thursday 28 January in the main House of Commons chamber. This is an Adjournment debate, determined by the Speaker.
Adjournment debates are half-hour debates at the end of each day's sitting. They are an opportunity for an individual backbench MP to raise an issue and receive a response from the relevant Minister, however, they do not end in a vote nor can they change the law.
The debate will start at around 5.00pm, after the conclusion of the debate on the UN International Day of Education.
