I'm so glad to be able to offer you this unique footage or my own edit of the agriculture methods in Iceland in 1939. This from open source but I got it un-edited so did my best in order to make a complete story with modern day clip length.
It was a silent film so I added simple country to but the main thing is that this is extremely rare and often good footage that shows a mixture of old and new working methods. The year is also important or the last summer before the world war and Iceland was an extremely poor nation at that time and many still still lived in turf houses.
Therefore i think this is very appropriate to have here on my channel because I know that many of you visit mein order to to get to know Icelanders and Icelandic culture, and it is difficult to find better sources than videos like this.
Overall I can say that old videos from Iceland are not so many and often difficult to find, and when they are found, they are often uncategorised, uncut and need a lot of repair, which few people can do here in my country.
However, I have tried my best to dig up all sorts of videos, sort them and make some kind of stories around years or themes. I will continue to do so, but I would like to mention that I recently opened another YouTube channel which is intended for Icelandic viewers and is mainly based on old footage from Akureyri.
You are welcome to visit it, but note that it is in Icelandic, but part of that footage will be published on this channel, or what I think is appropriate to translate into English.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK8yow4x81YD1u4DvfULv1w/featured
More videos of this kind will be published here as time moves on but like my idea was always to use this channel as a database over Icelandic culture in addition to my own footage but unfortunately I have not filmed so much in the last month due to special circumstances but it will only improve.
If you want and can to support the production of Icelandic information videos, I offer some possibilities, but first I will point you to this page where you are offered to download free photos from my personal collection. https://www.pexels.com/@gylfi-gylfason-3608722
