hyperbole and understatement.
0:13 Hyperbole is exaggerating a point. In other words, hyperbole is a simple statement is made and empathetic by overstatement.
I'm so thirsty I will drink the whole river. Now this is an obvious overstatement you cannot drink a whole river no matter how thirsty you are.
He has not slept for a year.
I have told you 10,000 times not to play in the rain.
1:17 Understatement: In understatement, a situation is intentionally shown as less important than it really is. Understatement is the opposite of hyperbole.
A soldier after losing a leg in a war says, "It's just a small wound." Now he has lost a leg, it cannot be a small wound.
A student who scores highest marks. says, "My result looks okay."
