"It's time the UK started wearning face masks," says a Question Time audience member. "In countries with a high mask-wearing cultureIn countries with a high mask wearing culture, such as Japan, Singapore and China the death rate from coronavirus is significantly less than it is here in the UK and face masks are proven to help stop the spread onto someone else. So why aren't we using them? It might still be a while before restrictions are eased in the UK so wouldn't this be a good time to use it to ask local clothing manufacturers - and there's lots of them in Wolverhampton - to manufacture as many face masks as possible and post them out to households in the region? This would avoid a possible shortage issue further down the line."
Fiona Bruce presents an hour of topical debate. On the panel are Robert Buckland MP, justice secretary and lord chancellor, Lisa Nandy MP, shadow foreign secretary, Karan Bilimoria, founder and chairman of Cobra Beer, vice-president of the Confederation of British Industry and cross-bench peer, and Rachel Clarke, doctor specialising in palliative care and author of Dear Life, a book on grief and the work of hospices.
